I wouldn't be "in shock!" With pets and little children (and sometimes old women) -- these things just happen once in a while. I would have just reminded my pup that that was wrong - taken her outside or do whatever you do and go on with life - and hope it doesn't happen again for a long long time.

Certainly - there may have been a reason why she had to pee so suddenly - I'd give her the benefit of the doubt if these accidents happen very rarely.
I personally don't believe that these little dogs do this on purpose to iritate us. I know some people do - but I don't. And, as far as looking you in the eye when they pee -- my dogs often do this when they pee outside.
