Hey! Your little Yorkie is just protecting himself as best he can without getting mean with your Boxer puppy. You will need to watch them very carefully together as the puppy can accidentally hurt the Yorkie VERY easily. Yorkies have tiny bones and delicate joints, despite their "big dog" attitudes. It is normal for the puppy to want to roughouse with the Yorkie, but I wouldn't ever allow it. You and your fiance need to get down on the floor with both dogs and absolutely control their actions. Your fiance can hold her dog in a very protective way while your puppy sniffs and explores him a bit. But if the Yorkie doesn't want the puppy to sniff him, don't push it. You need to be the one to say to the Boxer, "Enough!" and put him in his place. After all, YOU are the Alpha Dog and your puppy needs to learn that ASAP. |
