My furbabies have the step in harness from Chattiesmom. You are correct, she will have to get used to wearing it. I have caught Jill a couple of time trying to bite at hers but just distracted her and she stopped. They are adjustable so maybe you want to tighten it a little. I have attached a picture. They are a very nice step in harness and work great for taking the furbabies for a walk. Good luck and hope this helps.
