No it is not genetic. Yorkies and other small breeds are just more susceptible because of their small size. They are so tiny so they don't eat that much and it takes a lot of energy to keep their little bodies warm. To prevent hypoglocemia, you need to make sure that your puppy is eating regularly and that it stays warm. Make sure it gets enough rest. I would also supplement its diet with NutriCal 4-5 times daily just as a precautionary measure. |
