Our new yorkie, Hootie, was doing this exact same thing last week!!!!! She would get white foamy stuff around her mouth and then she would also cough up white foamy stuff. We had to take her to the vet for a checkup anyway so we asked her about the white foam. She said that Hootie probably just ate some grass or something outside. She told us not to worry about it at all. It has only happened once or twice since we went to the vet, but sure enough, before she starts foaming I see her eating grass or something outside. They are such crazy dogs! Unless it gets to be where he's foaming ALL the time, I wouldn't worry about it, especially since he is eating and playing well, which is also what Hootie was doing.
