Shaving off the hair on the top third of the ear to take off some weight and massaging usually is all that is needed. According to my vet, calcium supplements and taping doesn't work. They should stand up by the time he is six months old, if they are going to. I've noticed that if the dog is going to mature larger than the standard (4 to 7 pounds), then there is more of a chance his ears won't stand.
