I have heard that you should teach them to bark on command, and then teach them to stop on command. Then when they bark you have a command that tells them to stop.
I've also heard that a dog that barks at every noise, does so because he does not feel that you are doing your job of protecting the pack. He does not see you as a pack leader, so therefore he is taking over the job. In that case you need to be more assertive so he knows who is boss.
Chachi has just started barking and he barks at every noise. I'm trying to nip it in the bud before it becomes a problem. I cannot stand a barking dog, mine or anyone elses. |
