How funny we have the same problem, although mine when we are home he's good he dosent rip up the wee wee pad i think it's when he's home alone that he get mischivous, because he will go in the wee wee pad where ever i put it.
I think i will try the wee wee pad holder and hope he dosent start biting on that if not i think i am going to pull out my hair
