The breeders I got my dog from are a couple. The husband said she's not getting enough food. He mentioned something about her bile and stomach acid building up. Since she's a "teacup," he said she should be free fed. Before I took Angel home, his wife told me to free feed her for the first 3 days and then feed her 3 times a day until she's 8 months old, which is when I'm to reduce it to twice a day, and take the bowl away after an hour and a half. I told the hubby what his wife said, and he said that they thought she would've adjusted by now, but since she's going to be tiny, I should free feed her.
I feed her a 1/4 cup of kibble a day split into 3 meals, and she normally eats it all. If I keep refilling her bowl to make sure it's not empty, will she gain too much weight? I feed her at 8 a.m., 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. The longest time she's without food is overnight. I was thinking that I might just leave the kibble for her overnight but not free feed her during the day.
