Ok gals....first how I got Chewy in the water. I brought long time vet of the lakes, Libby - my hubbys parents dog. That helped. Having her go in the water first Chewy was comfortable going in. Now, once he was in, he didn't want to go to the deeper water where he actually had to swim so I gently brought him far enough and Waaa - la!!! He was a paddlin' like a pro! It was sooo funny b/c when I picked him out of the water he was still paddling like he needed too! haha.
After we went swimming, I went to petsmart the next day and saw those life vests. I almost got one for Chewy for looks, b/c he doesn't need one for getting in the water. Dogs swim pretty good. But when we take him on a boat or something, I will probably put one on him. The orange are great! |
