I'm not an expert, but that looks like dried Goop from scratching, perhaps it is healing? I'm sure you've read all the posts regarding food and how to grade it and such, but Science Diet (like Caesars) is full of byproducts and ingredients that are known allergens, as well as them being one company that is know to do animal testing. It is possible that the switch in food has stalled the itching/scratching for a time being. But, I'd really look for another food. All the premium brands out there that have really good ingredients are no more expensive than Science Diet. Just a suggestion. Please let us know what the vet says about the ears.
