this sounds like a very nice gesture.. it used to be this way every where, people forget to be kind to new neighbors any more. I have been guilty of this my self. I moved here about 3 yrs ago and was walking Buckeye, who is a barker at anyone on our route. a neighbor who moved in about year and 1/2 ago stopped me and said he and his wife didn't know my name so they assigned me one. LOL. I am now known as "Evelyn". Buckeye barking the whole time, I said "I think he wants you to invite him in for a kibble". Hopefully he will get used to seeing them and getting attention from them. as long as they are petting him, he is quiet.
