Default Appreciation

I was sitting at my computer last night checking my emails and usually Brownie is within my peripheral vision, either pacing the floor, in my lap or just sitting on my feet, but I didn't see her so I turned around to find her. And there she was, sitting on the sofa in the 'sit' position with her head tilted just waiting for me to finish what I was doing.

I just felt such a wave of love wash over me. How many of us really take the time to think about how much we love our furbabies? I mean, I love her and play with her and take her out and do all the mommy things with her, but last night, I just sat holding her, watching her watching me and think of JUST how much I love her.

I thought back to when I first got her and she was so small she used to sleep in my slippers, how I just used to tote her in a small bag and carry her to school with me and she would just sleep or sit watching me teach. I thought back to the time when she had her first bath and man, how she squealed like a pig. Remembering how she had a bad rash and had to shave her down to the skin the first time, oh, how tiny she was.

Thinking of each and every single time I was sick or upset, how she would curl up in the crook of my neck and give me a million kisses to make me feel better. The funniest time I think is when I gave her a lick of my ice cream for the first time, I thought her eyes would pop out because the ice cream was cold!!! She started shaking and shivering, wanting more, lol.

Knowing that up till this day, she thinks she's human and she's 'too good' for other dogs always puts a grin on my face. Yes, she's a pampered princess, who dislikes walking for more than a block, doesn't like any other four legged animals and refuses anything but the best.

Brownie is the best little dog, giving me a million laughs, a million good memories and hopefully a million more to come!!!

Sorry for this long post, I just wanted to share and hope that all of you feel the same way with your furkids.
