Maybe I'm missing something, but I am at a loss as to why everyone is so upset by the fact that the Maltese was not crossed in the manufacture of the Yorkshire Terrier. If it has anything to do with the fact that the breeder that the thread was started about is crossing Yorkies and Maltese, and you agree with her, then I don't understand why you are directing your comments towards me. I too have other books on the history of the breed that have the same misinformation that was posted earlier. I too can google and post summaries and excerpts from the internet, but I would imagine anyone would be hard pressed to find anyone that is more knowledgable about the breed in its entirely than Joan Gordon. |
I'm somewhat offended because I feel your comment was directed towards me. But I'll get over it soon.
I was not directing comments towards you, I was just trying to educate myself on the breed because I know nothing of it. I am not saying these internet sites are more knowledgeable than this prestigious Joan Gordon (or what you make of her), but being as though it's 11PM at night, I find it hard to find an open book store so I can actually find a good book about the Yorkshire to read otherwise. I'm sure Wal-Mart may have some, if I'm lucky but they might be in lamen's terms and I have no interest in that. I think the only resource close to me is Google. And, of course, I am quite sure you have the ability to search Google. I never questioned it! I know nothing of breeding because I am a 20 year old girl that has so much more to worry about but that does not stop me from trying to cultivate my knowledge on my own dog. The reason why I posted excerpts searched on Google, as you and I both have the ability to do, is because I was trying to clear up facts on who was wrong and who was right. In no way, in my belief, did I aim anything towards you. Per the website, it said the Maltese was a part of the Yorkshire Terrier's bloodline. You said there was not and that breeders should educate themselves. What I was wondering was that if there is not a solid history as to if there is or is not Maltese in the Yorkshire Terrier bloodline (based on the fact that there are so many different "histories" to the breed), than what substantial arguement do you have on telling someone to "educate themselves" besides one book? Maybe I just don't know the prestige carried by Joan Gordon and her vast knowledge of the Yorkshire breed or what not. My second question was simply asking everyone.. is there or is there not Maltese in the Yorkshire breed, because many say there are and there aren't. Quoting myself, I am sure there is only ONE answer because there can not be two deviant answers to a
historical question, as I'm sure you know.
