This topic has been discussed many times. There is such a big range, it does seem strange. I think the cheaper ones are the exception rather than the rule. Perhaps the breeders do not realize that they can get more, or perhaps they just aren't in it for the money.
There doesn't seem to be a shortage of quality yorkies, yet there are sites that are asking $10,000 ond more for very tiny little dogs that cannot possibly be healthy or have a long life expectancy. I believe people who buy those are not interested in the dog as a companion, but more for status, an oddity for attention. |
