Well good question.....since I just came back from 2 hours of shopping and Sully went into every store with me (in his bag with his head poking out) and he did great! He was "ooh" and "ahh'd" over but never once asked to leave (we went to liz claiborne and belk and gap and kay jewelers)
But Sully goes everywhere with me except restaurants and grocery stores. He even goes to work with me! He has a carseat in my car and loves to travel.
