My guess is it's because your baby gets so much time with you already. That's how it is at our house. I'm Penny's primary caregiver, and I'm home with her every day. She loves to cuddle with me in bed every night, rarely cuddling with my husband.
However, any time we come home from being somewhere, it's as if I'm not even there. She is absolutely ecstatic to see my husband, and I am a complete afterthought.
When we first got her, DH's boss told him that Yorkies tend to prefer their primary caregiver and that they often favor one person. We made it a point in the beginning when she started clinging to me to have DH spend alone time with her, and I would go away. We didn't want her to favor one over the other. Sometimes I'm disappointed she isn't more excited to see me when we both come home, but I have to be realistic about it... she doesn't get to see him as much and it's a normal reaction for her to be so excited for him.
