I can't imagine why you would really care which one of you the pup prefers to be with at different times.
I live alone with my pup - and believe me, he is with me so much, he really takes me for granted. He loves me a lot ----- BUT, whenever I have company or anyone else is here, he goes bonkers to play and be with them. He loves everyone, and if I have company, there is no way I can get him to come to me. He's just too busy enjoying people that aren't there all the time.
I don't feel put-down at all. It is interesting though - because if he is ever hurt or frightened - he'd pass a hundred people to get to me.
I really hate to see any "unhappy feelings" or "jealousy" occur when a pet might seem to favor one person over another. Pets really love everyone who is kind to them and cares for them.
You mentioned that your pup seemed to favor you for a while and you really liked this. I don't think you should try to encourage this or want it to be this way either. Just let your pup be himself and both of you enjoy him.
Plus - be thrilled that he likes your husband so much. I think this is wonderful. Perhaps he spends less time with your husband, and this is why he enjoys being with him when he's home. Mine would be that way.
