I have not heard of cutting the vocal cords as a way to stop barking. I have heard of doing a surgical procedure under anes. that involves punching holes in their vocal cords. I have never owned a dog that was "debarked" but a friend and I bought dogs from one of her acquaintances..her female had had surgery but she made a sound that sounded like she was choking. I feel that doing that takes away the first line of defense for both the dog and human..
But, I do understand that some people find the need to keep their dogs quieter or lose their home, and we can say all we want about that choice, but I don't think we are gonna change any minds because the pet owner probably did not make that decision lightly.. |
