With Sissy's shots, the vet tech's always prepare the syringes, but every time the vet has come in to give the shots, she has changed the needle to a much smaller one. She also has been very cautious about the dosage and would only give one vaccine per visit because she was really small during her puppy shots (between 2-3 lbs for the entire series).

Ask you vet to use to smaller needle and that might very well help with the pain afterwards.
