I don't know Patti, but it seems from your post that you pretty much allready have your mind made up. It sounds like this just isnt the right time for you. If you are unsure, then don't push it.
On the other hand, carpet can always be cleaned. I just got new carpet a few months ago, and I just got my new baby. $2,000 is alot for a dog that can't be shown. You might ask if that's the lowest she will go.
Either way, listen to yourself before you go through with a big change.
