My last Yorkie Gracie passed away from complication of a collapsed trachea in the thoaric area as well. That was 9 years ago and back then I contacted the Texas A& M Univ as they had done a recent study on CT in small dogs. I decided with advice from thier vets and mine not to do the surgery as the outcome back then was not good as Gracie had lung and heart compluctions. Univ of Tenn seems to be a great place for cutting edge technology and if they feel she is a candidate I would go for it. 3000 is a lot of money but if you have to keep taking her in for er treatment it may be a wash. I know how hard what you are going thtough is first hand. What would set Gracie off in to an attack was thunder storms. I lived in fear of them. Good luck I hope the surgery can be done and pray for it's success!
