In that case, I would try wrapping...it sounds like only the ends are dry. Snip the dry ends, dab the healthy ends with the Coat Handlers conditioner and leave in..it is water based and will not harm the hair..and wrap. Works like a deep conditioning...don't use plastic..use something the breathes..check it.
If the hair was dry/ brittle near the body that would be different...good luck
