Sounds to me like you have a nice vet. These little staples are sneaky little things that sometimes disappear when it's time to remove them. It's not uncommon for one to be missed with people or animals.

Same thing with sutures really - I can't tell you how many times people have had to go back to the doctor because a suture that has been left behind decides to act up a little and cause some infection, etc. These are quickly taken care of too.

I certainly wouldn't hold it against the vet at all -- and, if one is ever left in that does start causing a problem -it's unfortunate, but usually it's a quick fix.

And - I'm sure some "hidden staples" or sutures never cause any problems - and we never know (or need to care) that they are there.

I'm not so quick to criticize my vet - I appreciate so much what they do and realize that they (mine for sure) always work hard to do their best.
