Another suggestion to help with potty training is to feed him on a schedule. Leave food and water down for certain periods of time. But also give water if you can tell the pup is thirsty or was just playing hard or running around. Some people don't agree with this method of feeding on a schedule, but I've used it and it's worked pretty well. I leave water out though.
