My dogs have all loved carrots. And - I consider it one of the best things they can chew on. My dogs get at least one whole carrot a day....a big one. And, they will chew on them until there gone -- (but do leave "carrot crumbs" around the house - which are easy to clean up).
They have never gotten sick from eating carrots.
