Piper has never gone hikng. When we take him it is usually to a campground that has ammenities, such as a pool, mini-golf, ice cream shop...so he hasn't had to "rough it." But he does sleep in the tent with us in his p.j.s we bought him to keep him warm at night. I need to order a larger size for our upcoming trips since he's grown, but all-in-all it's just a laid back time for us and him and his Chi sister. Our Boxer actually gets boarded, it's harder to take him along since there isn't room in the vehicle for us, all our stuff, and a Boxer...we feel bad about that, but the little ones do go. When you do go, enjoy yourselves and if you are going to be hiking a lot maybe the carrier would be a good investment. Enjoy!
