 questions about Prescription I/D
Hey there - I just found this thread - Buddy had bad diarrhea again and is on another round of Metronidazole to kill whatever it is this time! The fecals are never conclusive about what he has! But, his poop is solid again, but now his burping seems more pronounced and he seems really uncomfortable, like it's reflux or something...he also licks his lips like he tastes something really bad...
I'm so worried about him - he's only 7 months old and his file at the vet is HUGE. And he has nothing really wrong with him. I feel like I've ruined him in some way - that I've made him nervous by bringing him to daycare - but he seems to really love it...so I don't know. I think we all go through bouts of feeling like bad moms.
Anyway. I am venting. But I guess I will talk to my vet about switching Buddy to i/d but I'm worried because his little system hasn't been able to tolerate rice - a question to the people feeding their dogs i/d whose pups have digestive upset - do they still need Pepcid and stuff if they are eating the I/D? If so, I'm inclined to keep him on the food he's on now - the Nature's Variety Raw Instinct because it has no potato, no rice, no grains, no corn - all things he's shown a bad reaction to...
What else can I feed him that is nutritionally complete?? |
