I had to give him a baby kong w/some p'nut butter in it to get to stay on his back.........which might be an everyday thing so I can brush his tummy. He just attacks the brush and comb after a few strokes, so grooming him is a 2 man job around here.
I shave Scampers' belly and around his privates, he is almost 6 months old and I have been doing it since he was 3 months old. All of my dogs are trained as puppies from day one to be bathed, dryed, shaved, and brushed. So I don't really have any problems with them. Although, it does take them time for them to adjust to the brush and shaver, but I have never had any real problems with them. I just taught them that the brush and shaver are a good thing and they get a treat everytime I bring the brush or shaver out.
It just takes alot of time, patience, encouragment and rewards.
