I watched a dog expert talk about this on tv the other day. He said that a dog who does this needs to be put in his proper place in the 'pack', so the best thing to do to rectify this is to hand feed your dog for the next little while. It helps greatly if you get your dog to do something for each morsel or every other morsel (ie, sit )
Doing this shows the dog that he/she isn't the leader of the pack as he/she is relying on you (the leader) for food.
