Just a note....Belly bands and panties will NOT, repeat NOT prevent an 'accidental' mating. They can wriggle out of those things and will.
X-pens and gates are not foolproof either. A dog that has never climbed anything before will suddenly learn the fine art of scaling a wall to get where he/she wants to go.
Crates..separate rooms with closed doors( and be sure to monitor the opening and closing of that door, the little buggers are FAST) are the only foolproof methods.
