I believe their gestation is under a month and she just kept getting pregnant. She would not take cae of her other babies and they all died.
The point of this story is, that most rabbits do not make the best Moms. I am a big proponent of spaying and neutering rabbits because they well, act like rabbits and breed like crazy. It is not really explainable, but I have seen hamsters do exactly what your rabbit did. Please spay your rabbit if you keep her. There are plenty of unwanted rabbits at shelters. |
I am not going to keep her. I breed and raise rabbits. I agree there is alot of unwanted rabbits at shelters. I use to adopt and spay and neuter. I have 6 does 3 that have not been breed yet and 2 with litters right now. The one that just killed her babies has always been a good mom. The other 2 that have litters right now have always been good mommys. I don't know why she chewed their legs off this time. When I have one that dosn't take care of her babies they always get spayed and placed in a pet home. All of my rabbits are litter boxed trained and are gentle. I don't breed bad rabbits.
