I crate trained Emmy from day one. I got her at 8 weeks and at night time would put her in the crate to sleep. I would take her out about 10-11ish and she would be good until 7am. When you first start putting her in it, she will whine and cry for a bit, but within a few days she should get used to it. It didn't take Emmy long either to know when she was tired to walk freely in and out of her crate. She's almost 8 months and she sleeps with me now, but during the day I will still find her sleeping in her crate.
So if you're asking if it is a bad thing by putting her in the crate yourself, I would say no. Crate training worked great for me. Hope this helps!
