Getting recommentations is the best way to start. Then, call the practice and evaluate how nice/professional the front desk folks are. Those are the poeple you will deal with FIRST every single time you need to see the vet. If you have any negative feelings, then that would be a "caution flag"

Next, I would make an appointment to "meet the vet". Go with or without your furkid, but make this a simple sit down chat and get "vibes" and tour the practice. It is $$ well spent.
