this is an interesting one,isn't it? Firstly, I agree with the last post-have him checked out for a medical problem. Otherwise,if it is happening at night,make sure he toilets before you go to bed.Take him out and praise.He may not want to go out by himself in the dark if he needs in the night.Do you have an outside light you can leave on for him? Restict his night time access to the 'rug' room. Let us know how he goes!
