Thanks everyone!

Max has training classes at Happy Clean & Smart, which is a doggie daycare, store, grooming, boarding, & training place all in one.

Max will be 7 months old in a few days, and we've been going to class for about a month. They generally recommend starting earlier than Max did. LOL So, I'm sure you could really benefit from taking your dog that still just a couple of months old...it will definitely help with potty training!

The most helpful thing we've learned in class is to be consistent. No matter what commands or hand signals you use, be sure to use the same thing each time. For instance, if you want him to get off the furniture, teach him "off", but be sure to say "off" every time, not "down" or "MAX!" or anything else.

We've learned sit, down, stand, take it, drop it, leave it, loose-leash walking, up, off, walk it (Max was scared to walk up & down steps at first, but now he's no problem at all.), and the some tricks like shake, roll over (which Max hasn't gotten yet LOL), dance, etc...

The next group of classes will deal with "manners" like stay & heal. I think we're going to wait a few weeks to start another round of classes, to give Max (read that: ME) time to really master what we've learned so far.
