Mollie's first heat cycle resulted in a false pregnancy but, I did not breed her the first time. Her second heat cycle I did breed her and she had a normal pregnancy and birth. I didn't have any x-rays things keep coming up and I wasn't able to take her to have any. I did however take her to the vet about 4 weeks after she was breed to see if she was pregnant just by an external examination, she was the vet said she felt 3 and wanted me to come back for an x-ray she thought she may have to have a c-section thank goodness she didn't have to.
If you would feel better having x-rays or ultrasound than by all means do it. I'm sure your vet will suggest x-rays.
