Good luck to you. Missouri also gets HOT in the summer time, so that will be new to her, too. I'm trying to get out of Michigan - we're hoping to transition to the San Diego area around this time next year....

This thread is proving instructive to this so-called expert too! I hadn't thought of shoveling down to grass, but I'll bet that would be idea for a dog new to the snow.
