If Alex is sound asleep and not on me he may not get up. I use may not, because it is very rare. Sometimes he is ok to stay put if he can see where I am going and that I will come back to him. He is my shadow, though. Especially if we are somewhere else other than home. Then generally he is part of me because he wants to be held.
