I'm certain you won't make the wrong decision. I'll tell you a story about when Muffin was just a puppy - under a year of age. That was 1991 or early 1992. I don't remember exactly, but my vet told me that my little girl should have her hip operated on, because it would slip out later in life. Well, I couldn't do it, because she had shown no symptoms. It never had slipped out yet! To make a long story short, I decided against the surgery and decided to take the wait and see attitude, because I'm like you when it comes to anesthesia. Muffin never had a bit of trouble and she jumped all of the time, sometimes landing halfway out in the room and scaring me half to death. Muffin lived to be 14 years old and I'm glad I decided against that surgery. Your situation is entirely different and your little one is already showing symptoms, so wait and see what the orthopedist says. They know so much more now than they did 14 years ago!
