I am also thinking of getting him a puppy cut for the summer. It is hard to get the nerve up after seeing what some groomers do. LOL Also does anyone know of any good books that I could look for that might help me out when it comes to grooming Yorkies? Thanks for the help.

I believe you are talking about a men's moustache trimmer that you can get at walmart, it is great for around the eyes or ears and you don't have to worry about hurting him. The first thing you need to do before you start cutting his hair is to practice having him stay in a postition for a long period of time with scissors(ones with blunt ends so you can't poke his eyes out) aneed him to hold still and be able to postition him the way you need to cut a certain area. I don't know of any good books on grooming to recommend, it is all trial and error. Just start off small, only cut a little bit at time and if that is still too long cut off a little bit more. If you cut off alot in the beginning there is no going back. Their hair is just like a humans hair so if you can cut straight you should be alright. I would rather cut a yorkie's hair any day then a cocker's. It took me a year to learn the cocker cut, but yorkies are just trimming. Wish I could tell you more, you just have to practice...
