Hi Kelly, congrats on your new baby!

I would wait a little longer if you can, even 1 more week would make a difference. I got Missy at 8weeks, a few days after having her home she had diariah then hyperglycimia (sp sorry) and then coccidia! All 3 before 12 weeks of age!

I was warned by many yorkie owners I should of waited till she was closer to 12weeks but the breeder said I could have her sooner and I was so anxious to get her I didnt wait. Well expensive lesson I learned and also very stressfull. Its so scary when your little baby gets sick, if you waited a week or so longer you might have less risks.

I learned my lesson with Missy so I made sure not to pick up Max till he was 12 weeks old, I had no problems with him at all and he was very socialized, he knew all kinds of yorkie tricks, like hiding bones etc.

I am sure she will be fine what ever you choose, but you will be less likely to come into any problems the longer you wait.

Here is something interesting I found on the YTCA website
"All puppies leaving the breeders possession will be a minimum of twelve (12) weeks of age to facilitate adequate socialization as well as appropriate emotional and temperament development through interaction with siblings, dam and other dogs." http://www.ytca.org/ethics.html

Keep us posted, were excited to hear all about your new baby!
