Sometimes is the personality of your pet only, but it can also be affected by what he eats and by how you let him (not conciously) manipulate you. I dont know if you have small children but it's kind of similar. They tend to be a certain way but they also want your attention 100% of the time and if you are busy doing something else he will let you know that you are not paying attention. Try to not pay much atention when he gets all hyper and when he does then do something he doesnt like.... maybee it could be taking a toy away from him or leaving him more time by himdelf, but you have to do it several times till he understands what you are trying to teach him. As with the food in my case I give Violeta a little bit of honey everyday... as soon as she eats it she gets all crazy for a while.. sugars tend to do that. If you give him honey or syrups or similars try to lower the dose. There are also this great and healthy treats called DOGSWELL that come in different packages for different needs, there are ones that are called Mellow Mutt or something like that.. they are specially formulated to relax them a little. Here is the site so you can read about it, maybee it works. I give them to Violeta when we go out and she gets bored in her carrier... she loves them and relaxes her.
