I had the same issue with Frodo, where he wasn't eating very much and looking very thin to the point where you could see the ridges of his vertebrae on his back. Our vet suggested that we give him some chicken and rice (3 parts rice, one part chicken), and he's been eating that up very well! I'm going to have to watch him, though - can't have him joining America's obesity epidemic LOL
