Have to agree, I would find another Vet. He may be nice, and you may trust his opinion, but decisions of this caliber should be left to you.

My Vet always urged me to spaye and quite frankly since I was not ever going to breed they were absolutely right! I lost my “Tiki” at 17 years old because she had such a bad uterine infection that it left me only two choices, either try to get the infection under control in order to spaye, or bring her home and prepare for her demise. I did get the infection under enough control in order to spaye, but she did not have the strengh to survive longer than 3 days. My little “Raisin” also had a uterine infection at 9 years old which did not result in any physical hardships, but I did have her spayed soon after only to loose her a month later. So very sad as she was such a precious angel.

So at any rate, it is your choice. If you are not planning to breed, it probably is the best for their health and well being.
