My personal feeling on this topic is a little different. I agree it's probably easier to raise two puppies close in age together but I can't imagine losing two babies close together as they go into their Golden Years.

Dan and I decided on a 5 year plan. We planned on adding a new baby every 5 years so as the older babies pass on, we still have others to care for and love. The medical expenses will be spread out over the years since puppies & seniors requires more visits to the vet too. And the insurance will be balanced out over the years also.

We got Jewel when Jazzie was 5 yrs. old. Jazzie took to her right away and mothered her from the start. Yes, they had to figure out how to get along but they did just fine. I believe Jazzie actually helped us with potty training Jewel.

Just another thing to take into consideration.
