The breeders on here can give you better advice but it depends on size too. I think a bigger pup can leave the nest earlier but most recommend not less than 12 weeks for socialization purposes. A puppy learns a lot from his mother and his siblings. A smaller should stay even longer. No puppy is safe from illness, but an older one is usually easier because they have been eating in their own longer and they are just stronger and have had some shots.
