I think you should just keep an eye on the situation like people have suggested. Maybe you could even buy her a basket and fill it with a few puppy things and a really good puppy book. My favorite puppy book is "Puppies for Dummies".
Hopefully she won't get the joke!!! And last but not least if her past is any indication..you might have another puppy in your home in a few months!! Good Luck!
