Mine did the exact same thing --
I have learned one thing -- anytime your pup is doing anything that scares you - never yell at them. This will only distract them and may, in itself, cause them to fall. Or it may keep them from attaining that "perfect landing" that your and my dog somehow managed to do.
Just walk quietly over and "grab them."
