I think there were language barriers everywhere. They announced "The runner up is Costa Rica" FIRST, so maybe that is why she and the lady in white thought she had won. It was always confusing to me how in the US we announce the runner up first and THEN say who the winnder is. Many places just say the winner when it is down to 2 people. It was just a misunderstanding. Allen was speaking English and their sashes are also in English. I am sure the CostaRican lady speaks spanish and I didn't hear anyone announcing in spanish. Even so, if gave you the crown at one of those things would you question it? lol.
I feel bad for the girl though. I couldn't believe she wasn't crying or feeling bad about herself. I thought the russian girl could have showed more empathy towards her. It seems like A LOT of those women didn't like the Russian girl, they didn't go back on stage for the retake! They must know something we don't. I think those pagents always have more to do with pagent politics than anything else. |
